I am an indigenous spiritual woman
Rooted in South Florida’s lands and oceans
Bound to South America’s Amazon
Descended from Southeast Asia’s heritage
Dusted by the sacred earth of the Middle East
I claim my lands
I claim my mind
I claim my power
My money
My offerings
All now mine to possess
My hair grows like elephant creepers
Native to the tropics of Southeast Asia
Thick, sacred
Healthy from root to stem
Swinging like supernal branches
Flowing from a willow cloaked in mystic leaves
It drapes over me
A shroud of might
Like a Victorian noble
Steeped in religious power
Like my hooded eyes
Wide, knowing
Possessed by the old gods
Its color ranges
From the deepest crimson of blood spells
To the brightest gold of sunlit offerings
This is my hair
It is a veil, a weapon, a crown
It holds salt from sea storms
Soil from ancient gardens
Incense from desert altars
I wear it as a witch
A goddess
An empress of every sacred place I come from
